RIP ! Ce 5 avril 1998

… nous quittait ce batteur d’exception ! …

En écoute cet album avec au chant John M. WEST, chanteur que j’affectionne et influencé par Glenn HUGHES et Joe Lynn TURNER … et qui lui rend hommage :

”Ce jour là, j’ai reçu 2 appels téléphoniques importants. (À l’époque, nous parlions au téléphone pour vous, jeunes lecteurs). Le premier appel a eu lieu dans la matinée à l’heure CA de mon batteur Cozy, et nous avons parlé des nouveaux enregistrements sur lesquels nous travaillions et des plans pour l’avenir, etc.
Le deuxième appel était dans l’après-midi de mon frère Lonnie (PARKS) me disant que les nouvelles de MTV diffusaient que Cozy avait eu un accident avec sa voiture et était mort. La Terre s’est effondrée à cette nouvelle. Nous avons perdu un grand ami et compagnon de route. Et le monde a perdu le meilleur. Cozy POWELL RIP” John M WEST …. ‘

‘The year was 1998 on this day Apr. 5 when I got 2 important phone calls. (Back then we actually spoke on the phone for you younger readers). First call was in the morning CA time from my drummer Cozy, and we talked about the new recordings we had been working on and plans for the future etc.
Second call was in the afternoon from my brother Lonnie telling me that MTV news was broadcasting that Cozy wrecked his car and died. Earth shattering news to say the least. We lost a great friend and bandmate, and the world lost the best. Cozy Powell RIP”  John M WEST
